September 2024 - Review
It has now been 6 months since Ian retired. We know that Ian is doing well and enjoying retirement (How’s Ian Doing?) but what about Amarin? Well I am very happy to report that things are going very well.
As September comes to a rainy close we have beaten last year’s September sales figure by a substantial amount. These numbers are especially impressive given that we have not had a full staff roster since 4th of the month due to annual leave. The level of support for one another is something I am very proud of. If our staff take a well deserved break then they don’t come back to a mountain of emails. There isn’t a ton of paperwork or a list of things to do waiting for them. All month everyone has been stepping in to fill the gaps left by their colleagues and that is great for morale. I am hugely proud of the team we assembled and how they’ve all stepped up since Ian retired.
This month’s impressive turnover means that we arrive at the half way point in the year in good shape. All in all we are probably around 7% up year on year for turnover. These are testing time for any business and supply chains in particular are being disrupted by conflicts around the world. We set our targets internally at the start of the tax year and we are above where we wanted to be. We had a very strong end to last year, including a then all-time record month in January, so there is work still to do. For now though I am very happy of how things look.
This Friday sees our first “Staff Meeting”, hosted by Sales Coordinator Mariet and Field Sales Manager Aron. This meeting is aimed at ensuring that all our staff have their chance to engage and contribute. Hopefully it will throw up some interesting discussions that we can use going forward.
As we head into the second half of the year we continue to target new business. Aron and I are working on a number of new customers at the moment and hoping they materialise in the near future. The workshop team continue to push the work out at a high level and in a timely manner. Mariet and Wanda continue to demonstrate their ability to run the office, allowing us to get out and see customers.
No doubt I’ll soon be being asked to book something exciting for the team to do at Christmas. If things continue in this positive manner then it’ll be my pleasure. Thank you to all our staff, customers and suppliers. Here’s to a great second half of the year!
