Life Is A Carnival

It has been a very busy time of year for the local area’s Carnival clubs and for the first time Amarin have been involved.

Planning, building and rehearsing takes these clubs many months ahead of the big show nights around Somerset. The Somerset County Carnivals circuit is fiercely competitive and is a main stay of the Somerset area. Our own Aron has been involved for many years, along with his wife Kate and their families. A lot of our customers and suppliers in the area have ties to various clubs too. If you’ve never experienced a night watching these enormous carts in person you really should!

This year we were approached by Petherton Carnival Club to try and add a professional edge to their entry. This year’s entry was “Outlaws” based on a wild west theme. One of the main elements of this cart was an elaborate, and highly detailed, steam train. The smallest details can make a huge difference in the overall judging of the entries. That is where we stepped in.

The Club provided us with computer drawings of what they wanted to achieve. Together with our workshop team their ideas then came to life. We cut various shapes to form parts of the train, and other elements on our in-house router and they came out exactly as they’d hoped.

The club then take our parts, add them to their build and they came up with the most amazing final entry. The performers bring the cart to life but the cart itself is the star of the show. We are very proud to have played a part in the building of this year’s entry.

The club said last week, “Ahead of Weston super mare Carnival tonight, Pentathlon would like to thank the team at Amarin Rubber & Plastics for their fantastic service and expertise with the cutting of some of our more intricate pieces of woodwork this year. There is no way we could have matched the speed, let alone the precision of the parts they produced for us this this year. Thank you for your support.”

Hopefully this is just the beginning for our involvement in this type of work. It certainly was something a bit different. We look forward to seeing next year’s idea.
