When UK based indie rock band, The K’s, came to Wells’ Studio 24 recently it was a musical tour de force. What we didn’t expect was to come away from the gig with a plastic enquiry!
Field Sales Manager Aron is part of the team at Studio 24. During soundcheck he got chatting to the band’s drummer Nathan Peers. Aron, “When they were tuning up the drummer Nathan was saying how he needed to buy some new baffles. I said that is what I do for a job and it went from there”. Amarin have since created a set of clear plastic baffles for Nathan, free of charge, ahead of their upcoming UK Tour.
What Are Drum Baffles?
Drum baffles are transparent acoustic panels. These are designed to reduce cymbal harshness and high-frequency bleed while preserving the natural resonance of the drum kit. Unlike drum shields, they don’t fully enclose the drums. Instead target specific problem areas (like cymbals) to improve stage sound clarity.
The band were very happy with what we sent them. The baffles have already taken pride of place on Nathan’s kit on stage. The band have kindly invited our team to their Bristol gig in May so we look forward to seeing them in person.
This very cool job proves once again that our in-house fabrication team can turn their hand to anything!
