Case Study:
High impact polystyrene for music festival organiser
Overview
The organizer of a large, high end, music festival contacted Amarin with a problem regarding how his staff could distribute drinks at his event. Currently the servers were carrying concession trays, supported around their neck, with shots of alcohol in one sort and small tumbler shaped glasses in another. The glasses would slide around as the server walked throughout the festival being bumped by party goers leading to a lot of spilt drinks and wasted money. We were asked to find a way to stop this happening within their current setup.
Solution
We spoke to the customer at length to ensure we didn’t hinder his servers in their job when finding a solution. From there we devised a fitted top plate for the trays to hold a sufficient amount of each drink tightly enough that it wouldn’t tip while also not needing to be pulled out with any great force to avoid spilling the drinks. The plates needed to be lightweight as the server still had to carry the same things as before and additional weight would be difficult, so we used a lightweight but very sturdy high impact polystyrene to manufacture the parts.
