Weston College Business Enterprise Challenge 2025
Managing Director, Alex, has agreed to be part of the Weston College Business Enterprise Challenge 2025.
Run by a partnership of Weston Hospicecare and Weston College the challenge is a popular feature in the calendar. It gives students the opportunity to set up and run their own mini-businesses, gaining hands-on experience in entrepreneurship, creativity, and teamwork. This all while raising vital funds for Weston Hospicecare. The project has been shortlisted for the 2025 Community Project Award at the Weston College Business Awards. This a lovely recognition of the real difference the project makes.
Thanks to amazing community support, last year’s project raised over £7,200, and more than £22,000 over the past four years – a fantastic contribution that directly helps support local families. Beyond fundraising, the project helps students build confidence and real-world skills. Amarin have supported the charity with a monthly donation for over a decade now.

Alex’s role within in this will be to act as a business mentor to the students. During the process Alex will be on hand to offer advice and guidance to help them be a success. A launch event is set for the beautiful Winter Gardens in Weston-super-Mare for the 8th October 2025. This is an exciting thing for Amarin to be part of. We will keep everyone up to date on the progress the students are making and, of course, those all important results!
Kirsty Simmons, Partnerships Manager at Weston Hospicecare. “We’re really excited to welcome some brilliant new mentors this year who will help inspire our students, so thank you for being part of it. We really appreciate you giving up your time to support the programme it makes a huge difference.
(We) plan for our first face-to-face mentor meet-up with the student teams on 8th October. This is the first time we’ve held an in-person session like this, and we’re hoping it will really boost engagement from the start.”
Anyone wishing to offer to be a mentor can do so by emailing kirsty.simmons@westonhospicecare.org.uk.
