Hoarders - The Amarin Episode
Having recently secured the single biggest order in the company’s history, in the word’s of Chief Brody in Jaws, “We’re gonna need a bigger boat!”.
We have to, soon, take delivery of 30 sheets of 12mm thick rigid plastic. Those sheets are 3050mm x 2050mm and weigh…a lot. Since moving into the beautiful surroundings of Rolstone Farm we’ve enjoyed spreading out. Maybe a little too much. This week has seen a site clearance by our refuge company taking away 5 large bins full of scrap material. We had become Hoarders. We do so much work from our “scrap” material that we’d got into the habit of keeping a lot. This week while moving our entire operation we made some tough calls to get rid of a lot of it.
What this has done is free up and amazing amount of space. We have better utilised our mezzanine area, we’ve been more efficient with our floor space too. Machinery has been moved to a more space efficient position. Some of the moves were to ensure staff don’t feel isolated in a corner while working hard. The sweeping bush, vacuum and mop have had a good workout this week too!

As we move into mid-October and near the deadline for the first part of the large orders delivery our workshop has never looked better. We can now accommodate the material delivery, we’ve got room to move and staff feel happier too. It feels fresh. It feels clean and it feels like a fresh start. Almost a rebirth of the unit we’ve happily called home for the past 6 and a half years.
There are so many exciting things going on at Amarin at the moment that having a tidy mind, and tidy space can be hard for everyone. The team have worked tirelessly this week to put us in this position and we’re ready for whatever comes next.
