What a Mann, What a Mann, What a Mann...
On a chilly, damp and dark Wednesday night the Weston RFC Under 14s were treated to a surprise visit by Gloucester Rugby and Scotland hopeful Jack Mann.
As Amarin’s sponsored player Jack has been very keen to get involved. Jack had previously joined training last September. With the team having developed hugely in the last 4 months this session saw Jack’s expertise put to good use. Working primarily with the forwards on scrumming and line outs advise was offered to all. Playing as a Number 8 Jack works at the back of the scrum and so offered his unique insight to the youngsters. Techniques were improved and by the end of the session the scrum was looking like a well oiled machine.
When the team came back together to rucking and running drills Jack watched on. As the drills progressed small tips and advice were offered to specific players. Jack has an effortless connection with the youth players and they hung on his every word. As a team Weston are not necessarily big in stature but are one of the fittest teams in the league. Given what the team are working with Jack offered his thoughts on how to maximise their strengths.
As the session came to an end the team came together to thank Jack for his time. The Scotsman spoke to the team about how much they have improved since he was last with them. He also looks forward to returning to work with them again. As an honorary member of the coaching team his input has been gratefully received by players, coaches and parents alike.
Now returning to full fitness, following a frustrating period, we hope to see Jack back on the Kingsholm pitch soon. A number of the Amarin family are attending the Gloucester RFC v Bath Rugby derby at the end of the month. That game potentially sees Amarin’s own Jack Mann take on Amarin’s own Dan Frost. A massive thank you to Jack for his time and passion to get involved with Amarin’s community efforts.
